How Powerful is the Ram 2500?
As we mentioned above, the Ram 2500 is a tier above the 1500, so you can expect some enhanced power and capability! For the 2022 lineup of six trim levels, there are three available engine options. First up, the standard engine is the 6.4-liter V8 which delivers 410 horsepower and 429 lb-ft of torque. If you're looking for an extra boost, upper trim levels can also opt for the available 6.7-liter turbocharged six-cylinder diesel which kicks out about 370 horsepower and 850 lb-ft of torque. The Ram 2500 actually offers two diesel options, the second of which is a high-output diesel six-cylinder, rated at 420 horsepower and an incredible 1,075 lb-ft of torque! To put those numbers in terms of capability, the Ram 2500 has a maximum towing capacity of up to 20,000 pounds with that high-output diesel engine, as well as a maximum payload of 3,160 pounds. Even with the standard engine, the maximum towing capacity reaches 17,540 pounds, with a maximum payload capacity of 4,010 pounds. The Power Wagon is the most rugged of the lineup, and has additional features like standard 4-wheel drive, and a 12,000-pound WARN winch!
What are the Ram 2500's Design Features?
The Ram 2500 has a distinctive appearance, with specific design elements that vary depending on the trim level you choose. One new standard feature that you'll find across the board is a new air filtration system that is capable of removing up to 95% of air particles like smoke, dust, and even bacteria! Another new standard feature is LED trailer hitch lighting, which gives dedicated visibility to the rear trailer hitch. The Ram 2500 has wheels measuring anywhere from 17 to 25 inches, depending on the trim levels, with the addition of all-terrain tires for the more athletic Power Wagon. On the mid-range Laramie trim, you'll find features such as LED foglights, dual-zone automatic climate control, a heated steering wheel, and heated, leather-trimmed seats. It also has LED interior lighting, and a quiet interior thanks to acoustic front windows, and active noise cancellation. Moving up to the top-tier Limited trim, you'll find even more luxurious features like power-deploying running boards, and RamBox in-bed storage bins so that you can carry extra gear.
What Tech Features does the Ram 2500 Offer?
Another main element of the Ram 2500 lineup is its high-tech interior that offers many opportunities for entertainment, safety, and enhanced functionality. For 2022, all trim levels starting with the Big Horn come standard with the Uconnect 5 infotainment touchscreen. This system features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity, a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, and up to five customizable user profiles. The standard touchscreen measures 8.4 inches, but the Limited kicks it up a notch with a 12-inch touchscreen, as well as a wireless smartphone charging pad. Other tech features for the 2500 include integrated navigation, and a premium 9-speaker Alpine audio. To help you maintain control of anything you may be towing, the Ram 1500 also offers a 360-degree surround-view camera with a bird's-eye view of both your truck and your trailer, as well as a digital rearview mirror with Tow Mode, which can give you a view of whatever's behind your trailer. You can also view your trailer tire pressure via your digital driver information display right behind the steering wheel!
