Why Should I Use a Maintenance Schedule?

A great way to stay on top of your truck's maintenance needs is to follow a service schedule. Essentially, this fits all of your Ram's services into a timeline that you can refer to based on your truck's mileage. Since the services are based on mileage rather than a specific date, you can keep up with your Ram 1500's service needs based on your unique driving habits. By following a maintenance schedule, you can ensure that your Ram 1500 is getting the right services at the right time, so that it stays in its best possible condition for years to come! Here, we'll be laying out an example of a Ram 1500 maintenance schedule that you can use as a guide for caring for your truck. Be sure to get in touch with us here at East Carolina CDJR for your next maintenance appointment!

Ram 1500 Service Schedule

8,000 Miles
The first benchmark to keep an eye out for is when your Ram's odometer hits 8,000 miles. At this point, you should bring your truck into our service center where our technicians will replace your engine oil, and change out your oil filter. They will also provide you with a tire rotation, which will ensure that all four tires get an even amount of wear, helping them all last longer. After this initial appointment, you can continue to get a regular oil change and tire rotation roughly every 7,500 miles. This will become the foundation of your truck's maintenance.

20,000 Miles
The next checkpoint we'll be discussing is the 20,000-mile mark. At this point, you will have gotten your regular oil change and tire rotation in the meantime, and once you hit 20,000 miles, it's nearly time to do so once again! In addition to the oil change and tire rotation, it's also time for your mechanic to inspect your front suspension. They will also inspect your brake linings and tie rods, and make any necessary replacements as needed.

30,000 Miles
Next up, we'll be discussing your 30,000-mile appointment. As an additional reminder, you will have gotten another tire rotation and oil change since your 20,000-mile checkup. Once the odometer on your truck hits 30,000 miles, it's time for another appointment, where your mechanic will change your air conditioning filter, and check on your transfer case fluid. They will also inspect your CV/Universal joints to ensure that you can make the most of your truck's torque output. Lastly, your mechanic will also inspect your axles for any signs of wear that can come with off-roading, or driving in extreme weather.

60,000 Miles
We're skipping ahead another 30,000 miles to your 60,000-mile checkup. Since you've now doubled the mileage on your Ram 1500, you can go ahead and repeat the services that were performed during your 30,000-mile appointment, including checking the transfer case fluid, AC filter, and CV/Universal joints. Of course, you'll also have had your regular oil change and tire rotation. At 60,000 miles, your technician will pay special attention to your vehicle's fluids, including engine coolant, transmission fluid, and brake fluid.

100,000 Miles and More!
Once your Ram 1500's mileage hits 100,000 miles, you'll be well acquainted with its unique needs and functions. Over time, bringing your truck in for regular maintenance will become second nature! At 100,000 miles, you'll find yourself repeating many of the same services we've mentioned above. This includes your regular tire rotation and oil change, replacing your air conditioning filter, changing out your transmission fluid, and inspecting your tie rod ends, brake linings, and suspension. At this point, your mechanic will also replace your spark plugs, and inspect your PVC joints. If there are signs of wear on your tires, you should go ahead and replace them as well.
